The Wedding Day! No hailstones in Scunthorpe today, only lots of sunshine and clear skies. I arrived at the hotel whilst Jay was getting ready, and I could see Jay was going to make a beautiful bride. Friends and family slowly began to arrive and everyone was in awe at how gorgeous she looked.

The Grooms side were here and raring to get inside and crack on with the show, but not without paying their dues :-) To be honest I think they got off quite lightly! Jay’s friends and family were far too kind! The Nikah ceremony took place with Jay’s friends and family by her side, it was an emotional one and it even had me a little teary. Although Jay said she wouldn’t cry …..yes she shed a couple of baby tears too. I wish i had a pound for every bride that said that to me!

In between dinner and the cake cutting, we had literally 20 minutes to take some couple shots however this didn’t stop both Jay and Atif and they did a fabulous job :-) What a fantastic day, all their hard work of planning and organising had finally paid off, and was it worth it? Of course it was! The final goodbye was very emotional, it was the first time I had seen Jay without a smile on her face….but I have no doubts at all that Atif will always keep her smiling. I wish both Atif and Jay a blessed and successful journey ahead with lots of happiness, love and laughter and I thank you sincerely for allowing me to be part of your day. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer couple to work with and more importantly, two great people to become good friends with.

I was introduced to Jay and her now husband Atif last year through a friend and fellow photographer Shahed. We met at my house whilst we were undergoing a renovation however I’m glad to say the rubble and dust didn’t put them off! We got chatting and instantly clicked. It felt as if we’d known each other for ages and most of the conversation was around other things than the wedding! Jay and Atif both have infectious personalities and not only is Jay stunning on the outside, she is truly beautiful on the inside too. Ok ok Atif, you are beautiful too (except for your Geordie accent lol) :-)

I thoroughly enjoyed shooting Jay’s mendhi, and loved meeting her warm family and fabulous friends who kept me entertained all evening. Although I’d never been to Scunthorpe before this was a trip I won’t forget as it hailed the biggest hailstones I’d ever seen that night! but the sun came out just in time for Jay’s arrival. Perfect.

Keep an eye out on the blog for Jay and Atif’s Wedding….coming soon.

Classy, elegant, relaxed…..a few words to describe Razina and Zaeem’s beautiful wedding day, which was held at the magnificent British Muslim Heritage Centre in Manchester, a truly grand building with bags of character. The décor was simple and elegant in design, with crisp whites, subtle yellows and sophisticated blue ribbon.

In the morning I arrived at the hotel where Razina was getting ready, and her stunning Chantilly lace wedding dress hung patiently by the window….ahhhh it was so pretty and beautiful to touch, a true sign of taste! With her Bridesmaids at hand to calm her nerves, Razina slipped on her Jimmy Choos and looked amazing. Following some family photos at home we made our way to the venue to join Razina’s family and friends. A family album including photos of Razina’s parents on their very own wedding day was a little something to keep the guests entertained! It was a thoroughly enjoyable reception with a relaxed and informal itinerary and plenty of hugs and laughs throughout the evening.

I would like to thank Razina and Zaeem’s family for making me feel so welcome and also a very special thanks to Razina’s fab brothers for being extra nice! I wish the newly weds a successful journey ahead with plenty of happiness and blessings! Here’s a little taster…..

Continued from Saira’s Mendhi…..I arrived at Saira’s home the morning of the wedding day and I was in awe of how stunning she looked. Saira had been transformed from the girl-next-door to a sophisticated elegant bride-to-be! In a dazzling pair of Jimmy Choos and a luxurious lengha by Hajra Hayat, Saira looked beautiful. A sentimental personal touch to finish off the look was the purse that Saira’s mum used on her very own wedding day 25 years ago, I thought this vintage piece was very classy and very touching! Speaking of Saira’s mum aka super woman, she returned home at the last minute to get ready as she was busy at the venue from the crack of dawn laying out all the flower decor and table settings which she made herself! And what a fab job she did too Saira and Umar’s wedding was held at The Sheridan, a venue packed with family and friends and with lots of tempting delights including an exotic fruit table, a sweet stand and kashmiri pink tea and cupcakes…yes very yum!

Saira put a lot of thought into making her day a memorable one, with disposable cameras for the younger guests to take pictures with, many of whom were tagging along behind me! and a hand drawn tree placed on an easel for guests to imprint with ink and leave their well wishes for the new couple. Saira and Umar’s wedding day was one filled with heaps of emotion. From the welcoming of the Nikah to the farewell of the Rukhsti there were plenty of smiles, cries, laughs and tears (happy ones of course!). They make a super sweet couple and I wish them all the happiness in the world as they start their new life together Here are a handfull of my favourite images…..

A facepainter kept the kids entertained and each of the guests were also treated to a set of indian bangles. Saira insisted she isn’t the posey type but I think she took to the camera like a pro! Here are a few of my favourite shots of Saira’s Mendhi….

Sweet, intelligent, fun-loving and incredibly loved…..just a few words to describe Saira. We met almost a year ago to discuss Saira’s wedding celebrations and we hit it off immediately! I really felt at home with Saira and her family, and could feel the emotion as if I had known her forever. Saira kick starts her celebrations with a sangeet at home with family and friends, lots of good food, good laughs and good singing?! Lol.

One thing I really loved about Saira is that we both shared a vision, and that is of storytelling. Saira wanted her pictures to tell the story of her wedding, to capture the finer details and the important, natural moments that cannot be posed….and I hope these images do just that! Saira’s Sangeet is the first of three blog posts dedicated to this beautiful bride, these are just a few of my favourites with plenty more special moments being captured…..keep an eye on the blog for Saira’s Mendhi and Saira’s Wedding
